High temperatures today will be around 10 degrees above normal, with portions of southeast Utah and southwest Colorado seeing triple digit heat. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday. The unusual heat lingers into Friday, with the desert valleys seeing the hottest day of the year thus far. Increasing moisture will lead to more clouds and showers over the higher terrain, with coverage expanding each afternoon through early next week. Flood Warning National Weather Service Grand Junction CO 250 PM MDT Wed Jun 5 2024 ...The National Weather Service in Grand Junction CO has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Colorado... Elk River at Milner affecting Routt County. .Warm temperatures will accelerate snow melt across the Elkhead and Park Ranges through this weekend. Expect increasing flows on many creeks and streams across the Upper Yampa River Basin. Diurnal forecast peaks are expected to exceed Minor Flood Stage, specifically on the Elk River near Milner, each morning through Sunday. Additional showers and thunderstorms may increase flows this weekend. For the Elk River...including Milner and County Roads 44 and 42... Minor flooding is forecast. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. At 7.0 feet: Low land flooding is occurring along the reach of the Elk River. Water has reached the foundations of some ranch buildings and homes near the County Road 42 Bridge. At 7.5 feet: Lower portions of 42 road near the Elk River bridge are starting to flood.
