Further east, there is the potential for a few showers and thunderstorms this afternoon across the far southeast plains. The main risks from storms will be gusty outflow winds up to 50 mph and lightning. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Saturday afternoon and evening across the San Luis Valley, southern mountains and the northern slopes of the Raton Mesa Region. Hail up to 1.25 inches in diameter and wind gusts up to 70 mph will be possible with the stronger storms, with the greatest risk across the San Luis Valley where instability may be highest. Widespread rain and snow will spread northward across the southeast plains Saturday night through Sunday morning with snow levels dropping to around 9000 feet for the mountains north of highway 50 by Sunday morning. Snowfall accumulations of up to 8 inches will be possible across the higher peaks of the Sawatch and Mosquito ranges as well as Pikes Peak, with most accumulations staying above 10000 feet. Showers and thunderstorms will return to the forecast for Monday and Tuesday as another disturbance moves across the region. Some additional light snow will be possible across the highest peaks during the overnight and early morning hours. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
