...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM TO 8 PM CDT THURSDAY...

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central Kansas, east central
Kansas, north central Kansas and northeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

A hot and humid air mass will result in heat index values ranging
from 101 to 110 degrees this afternoon. Strong to severe storms
could also develop late this afternoon and evening with damaging
wind gusts and large hail being the main concerns.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Another round of strong to severe storms is possible late Friday
afternoon into Friday night with damaging wind gusts and large hail
the main hazards.


.SPOTTER MESSAGE

Weather spotters are encouraged to relay reports of hail, damaging
wind, tornadoes and flooding.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM
CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heat index values of 100 to 110 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, and
  northeast Kansas.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
