This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of northeast
Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and Tonight

Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are expected today.
Primary hazard is damaging wind gusts to 70 mph, large hail to 2
inches in diameter and a few tornadoes. A Severe Thunderstorm
Watch is in effect for most of Minnesota until 8PM. Periods of
moderate to heavy rain are expected today and tonight. Flash
flooding is possible, and a Flash Flood Watch is in effect.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Additional rain and thunderstorms are expected late-week into
this weekend. Heavy rain and some flooding issues are possible.

Skywarn spotters are encouraged to report hail, wind damage, and
rainfall amounts to the National Weather Service.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall may be possible.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Northern Cook and Lake County. This also
  includes the Boundary Waters eastern and central area.

* WHEN...Through Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Showers and thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rain
    today, with localized areas receiving up to 1 to 3 inches of
    rain. This will fall on top of already saturated soils and
    rivers with normal to above normal streamflow. The heaviest
    rain is expected early this morning and through the day
    today.
  - Flood safety information can be found at

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Portage and hiking trails may become slick and potentially
impassable and ponding of water could inundate low-lying campsites
across the Boundary Waters.
