This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for east central Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and northern West Virginia. .DAY ONE...Today and tonight. There is high confidence in a prolonged, potentially dangerous period of excessive heat through the week that may result in heat- related impacts across the area, especially in traditionally warmer locations like valleys and urban centers. Heat indices will reach into the upper 90s and lower 100s for much of the area this afternoon. Additionally, strong surface heating will allow for isolated to scattered storms this afternoon. Damaging winds within downbursts are possible. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday. There is high confidence in a prolonged, potentially dangerous period of excessive heat through the week that may result in heat- related impacts across the area, especially in traditionally warmer locations like valleys and urban centers. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
