Be aware of thunderstorms in your area and be prepared to take shelter. .Excessive Heat...Along the west and northwest to north central coastal and urban areas of Puerto Rico, this level of heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts likely in some health systems, heat- sensitive industries and infrastructure. Elsewhere impacts possible in some health systems and in heat-sensitive industries. .Wind...Breezy conditions mainly along the coastal areas during the afternoon hours. Unsecured items could blow around. .Rip Currents...Life-threatening rip currents are possible in the surf zone, particularly in beaches of southeast sections of Puerto Rico. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday Warm to hot conditions will continue into the weekend, with an Excessive Heat Watch again possible by Friday as local easterly winds will become more southeasterly and Saharan dust will spread across the region once again. Afternoon convective development may lead to limited excessive rainfall impacts, mainly across far western sections of Puerto Rico. This level of heat affects most individual sensitive to heat. * WHERE...Culebra, Northeast, Ponce and Vicinity, Southeast, Southwest, and Vieques Counties. * WHEN...Until 6 PM AST this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
