This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Puerto Rico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

.Excessive Heat...This level of heat affects anyone without
effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts likely in
some health systems, heat-sensitive industries and
infrastructure.

.Wind...Breezy conditions. Unsecured items could blow around.

.Marine Conditions...Small craft should exercise caution across
the Mona Passage.

.Rip Currents...Life-threatening rip currents are possible in the
surf zone particularly along southwest PR.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

The heat spell may extend throughout the rest of the forecast
period. An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect through at least
Saturday. A moderate risk of rip current will persist through the
forecast period.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is encouraged. Please relay any information
about flooding, winds, waves, and rip currents to the National
Weather Service in San Juan.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...For the Excessive Heat Warning, this level of heat affects
  anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.
  Impacts likely in some health systems, heat-sensitive industries
  and infrastructure. For the Excessive Heat Watch, dangerously hot
  conditions may extent through tomorrow.

* WHERE...In Puerto Rico, Mayaguez and Vicinity, North Central,
  Northeast, Northwest, Ponce and Vicinity, San Juan and Vicinity,
  Southeast, and Southwest Counties. In Virgin Islands, St Croix
  County.

* WHEN...For the Excessive Heat Warning, from 9 AM this morning to 6
  PM AST this evening. For the Excessive Heat Watch, from Saturday
  morning through Saturday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
