A prolonged period of hot weather begins today. Heat index values will reach into the mid 80s to lower 90s this afternoon and early evening for all but the highest ridges. Extra care for proper hydration and watching for signs of heat stress should be exercised by anyone who is recreating in the mountains this week. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. A prolonged period of hot weather continues through the week. Heat index values will reach into the mid 80s to mid 90s each day for all but the highest ridges.
