THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...
NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

  WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED:

  SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS...A FEW MAY PRODUCE:
HAIL TO THE SIZE OF QUARTERS.
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH.
  LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL.

  AREAS AFFECTED AND TIMING:

ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS EARLY THIS MORNING MAINLY
WEST OF A PONTIAC TO ROCKFORD LINE. ADDITIONAL STRONGER STORMS
POSSIBLE BY EARLY AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING ACROSS ALL
  OF THE OUTLOOK AREA.

  DISCUSSION:

A MOISTURE RICH AND MILD AIRMASS WILL SLIDE EAST FROM IOWA INTO
NORTHERN ILLINOIS LATER THIS MORNING. AS THIS OCCURS...AN UPPER
LEVEL SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO INITIATE STORMS EARLY THIS MORNING.
THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE COLD
FRONT OR FROM PONTIAC TO CHICAGO. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL LIKELY
MOVE EAST DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS. THEN
AS THE UPPER LEVEL SYSTEM SLIDES EAST BY EARLY THIS EVENING...
STORMS WILL STEADILY DISSIPATE AND WEAKEN IN COVERAGE AND
  INTENSITY FROM WEST TO EAST.

THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS ALOFT AND COOLER AIR ABOVE THE
SURFACE...IS EXPECTED TO SUPPORT SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS
BECOMING STRONG TO POSSIBLY SEVERE. THE MAIN HAZARD FROM
THE STRONGEST STORMS WILL BE DAMAGING WIND GUSTS THAT COULD EXCEED
60 MPH AND HAIL NEAR THE SIZE OF QUARTERS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
