This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of southwest
Michigan...northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Widespread flooding will continue today and tonight over much of
northwest Indiana into far southwest Lower Michigan; however, the
water will recede at most locations. Major flooding will continue on
several rivers with record crests at some points. For the latest
river warning and crest information, please refer to the Northern
Indiana webpage and flood warnings issued by this office.

Strong winds are expected this morning. Please see the Wind Advisory
issued by this office.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday

River flooding will continue into early this week across most of the
area. For the latest flood information, please refer to our webpage
and any flood warnings or statements issued by this office.


Reports and pictures of flooding and any measured rainfall amounts would
be appreciated.

Any reports of wind gusts or any wind damage will be appreciated
early this morning.

the weekend.


Never drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep
to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Kankakee River at Davis
* until Saturday afternoon.
* At 3 AM Sunday the stage was 12.7 feet and steady.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will fall below the 10.0 foot flood stage
  around  3 PM Friday March  2.
* At 13.0 feet...Extensive agricultural flooding is in progress.
* This crest compares to a previous crest of 13.0 feet which occurred
  on Feb 21 2018.

 * West winds behind a cold front increasing to 30 mph with gusts
   to 45 to 55 mph overnight.

 * The strongest wind gusts are expected for a 2 to 4 hour
   period from west to east overnight into early Sunday morning
   in association with a cold front tracking across the area.
   Gusty winds will continue through the day Sunday, but wind
   gusts will diminish to around 30 mph later Sunday morning.


 * Loose items such as garbage cans will be blown around in
   these gusty winds. Secure your belongings. Driving high
   profile vehicles will also become difficult overnight.


A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or gusts of
45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving
difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana  has extended the

* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in...
  Elkhart County in north central Indiana...
  St. Joseph County in north central Indiana...
  Pulaski County in northwestern Indiana...
  Starke County in northwestern Indiana...
  Marshall County in north central Indiana...
  La Porte County in northwestern Indiana...
  Cass County in southwestern Michigan...
  Berrien County in southwestern Michigan...

* Until 1145 AM EST Sunday/1045 AM CST Sunday/

* Trained spotters and emergency management continued to report some
  flooding and closed roads across the flood warning area. Areal
  flooding has improved in some locations, but several roads remain
  closed due to standing water across the area. Significant flooding
  continues along streams and rivers. Additional rainfall from early
  Saturday morning through Saturday night of one quarter to one half
  inch is expected. If locally higher rainfall amounts are received,
  some renewed lowland flooding will be possible. Significant
  flooding of locations near streams and rivers will likely continue
  into early next week.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  South Bend, Elkhart, Mishawaka, Goshen, Michigan City, La Porte,
  Niles, Benton Harbor, Plymouth, St. Joseph, Nappanee, Dowagiac,
  Westville, Bremen, Buchanan, Knox, Georgetown, Winamac, Trail Creek
  and Granger.


Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
