Above Average Temperatures for the West and Central Plains; Lake Effect Snow Continues

Well above average temperatures will prevail across the Plains and the West Coast this week, while a cold front will bring Arctic air to the South and East Coast Thursday and Friday. Today: Variable winds near 5 knots, becoming west to northwest 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Seas 1 foot or less, except building to 1 to 2 feet west of the marquesas keys. Nearshore waters smooth, becoming a light to moderate chop. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Tonight: West to northwest winds 10 to 15 knots, becoming west 15 to 20 knots. Seas 1 to 2 feet, except building to 2 to 3 feet west of the marquesas keys. Nearshore waters a light to moderate chop, becoming choppy. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Thursday: West winds near 20 knots, becoming northwest near 25 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet, occasionally to 5 feet, building to 4 to 6 feet, occasionally to 8 feet. West of the marquesas keys, seas 4 to 5 feet, occasionally to 6 feet, building to 6 to 8 feet, occasionally to 10 feet. Nearshore waters rough, becoming extremely rough. Numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Thursday Night: Northwest to north winds near 25 knots, becoming north to northeast near 20 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet, occasionally to 8 feet, except 6 to 9 feet, occasionally to 11 feet west of the marquesas keys. Nearshore waters extremely rough, becoming rough.

Friday: North to northeast winds 15 to 20 knots, becoming northeast near 10 knots in the afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 feet, occasionally to 6 feet, subsiding to 2 to 3 feet. West of the marquesas keys, seas 4 to 6 feet, occasionally to 8 feet, subsiding to 3 to 5 feet, occasionally to 7 feet. Nearshore waters choppy, becoming a light chop.

Friday Night: Northeast winds near 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet, except 3 to 4 feet, occasionally to 5 feet west of the marquesas keys. Nearshore waters a light chop.

Saturday: North to northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 1 to 2 feet, except 2 to 3 feet west of the marquesas keys. Nearshore waters a light to moderate chop.

Saturday Night: North winds 10 to 15 knots, increasing to near 15 knots. Seas 1 to 2 feet, except around 2 feet west of the marquesas keys. Nearshore waters a light to moderate chop, becoming a moderate chop.

Sunday: Northwest to north winds 15 to 20 knots, increasing to near 20 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet, except building to 3 to 4 feet, occasionally to 5 feet west of the marquesas keys. Nearshore waters choppy, becoming rough.
