Storm Systems to Impact the Central and Eastern U.S. Through the Weekend

Two storm systems will track through the central and eastern U.S. today through this weekend with areas of gusty winds, rain and heavy snow. Severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast today from the Lower Mississippi River Valley to the Tennessee Valley. Today: Northwest wind 5 to 10 knots becoming southwest 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 25 knots in the late morning and afternoon. Patchy fog late in the afternoon. Chance of snow late in the afternoon. Waves 1 to 3 feet building to 2 to 4 feet in the afternoon.

Tonight: Southwest wind 10 to 15 knots. Gusts up to 25 knots decreasing to 20 knots in the late evening and overnight. Chance of snow in the evening. Slight chance of light freezing drizzle and snow after midnight. Waves 2 to 4 feet subsiding to 1 to 3 feet after midnight.

Monday: West wind 5 to 10 knots. Gusts up to 20 knots early in the morning. Mostly sunny. Waves 1 foot or less.

Monday Night: Southwest wind 5 to 10 knots. Gusts up to 20 knots after midnight. Chance of snow, rain and light freezing drizzle after midnight. Waves 1 to 2 feet.
