Tracking Late Season Winter Storms; Unusual Early-Season Heat Wave in the Southwest

Heavy snow and high winds continue in the Great Lakes and Northeast. A moderate atmospheric river will continue to bring heavy precipitation to the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies. A major winter storm will develop across the northern High Plains tonight into Saturday and rapidly strengthen as it moves into the Great Lakes on Sunday. Late This Afternoon: North wind up to 30 knots with gale force gusts up to 38 knots. Snow showers. Waves 6 to 9 feet occasionally to 11 feet subsiding to 5 to 8 feet occasionally to 10 feet.

Tonight: North wind up to 30 knots with gale force gusts up to 38 knots becoming northwest 10 to 20 knots with gale force gusts up to 38 knots by midnight. Cloudy with a chance of snow showers through late evening, then partly cloudy by midnight. Waves subsiding to 1 to 2 feet.

Saturday: Northwest wind less than 10 knots backing south late. Partly cloudy. Waves 1 to 2 feet.

Saturday Night: Southeast wind 10 to 15 knots becoming east up to 30 knots with gale force gusts up to 38 knots after midnight. Cloudy. A slight chance of snow in the evening, then snow likely after midnight. Waves building to 3 to 6 feet occasionally to 8 feet.

Sunday: East wind up to 30 knots backing northeast in the afternoon. Gale force gusts up to 44 knots. Snow possibly mixed with sleet. Waves building to 9 to 12 feet occasionally to 15 feet.
