A large, long-duration winter storm is expected to bring widespread heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain from the Southern Rockies/Plains into the Mid-South beginning Friday, spreading eastward to the Mid-Atlantic and New England this weekend. Tonight: West wind up to 30 knots veering northwest after midnight. Gusts up to 35 knots. Mostly cloudy through around midnight then becoming partly cloudy. Waves 3 to 4 feet building to 3 to 5 feet in the late evening and early morning, then subsiding to 3 to 4 feet early in the morning.

Friday: Northwest wind up to 30 knots easing to 15 to 25 knots in the late morning and early afternoon, then becoming 15 to 20 knots late in the afternoon. Sunny. Waves 3 to 4 feet subsiding to 1 to 2 feet late in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Northwest wind 15 to 20 knots easing to 10 to 15 knots after midnight. Partly cloudy through around midnight then becoming mostly cloudy. Waves 1 to 2 feet.
