NWS Marine Forecast

   ANZ899-260215-  1057 AM EDT Fri Sep 25 2026      .SYNOPSIS FOR MID ATLC WATERS...Intensifying low pressure  centered about 200 nm E to NE of Cape Hatteras will track slowly  to the N and NW today into Sat night while approaching western  Long Island or New Jersey Sat night, slow and turn to the SW and  S while weakening Sun, and then gradually turn more towards the E  Sun night while passing over the far N waters. The weakening low  is forecast to pass NE of the waters Mon through Tue night and  high pressure builds towards the northern Mid-Atlantic coast.  Strong counterflow to the Gulf Stream will create large, very  steep, and possibly breaking waves resulting in a particularly  hazardous sea state. A secondary cold front will move offshore  late Sun into Sun night, stall across the area Mon into Tue, then  dissipate late Tue into Tue night. Mariners should continue  monitoring forecasts as the intensifying low pressure system  slowly crosses the region into the weekend, and consider  avoidance plans as needed. This will be a long duration event,  and highly impactful to the mariner.    $$
