An area of incoming strong to severe thunderstorms interacted with a narrow boundary to produce a large area of enhanced wind damage from northeast McLean to southern Ford Counties. The damage, within a 10 to 15 mile wide corridor, produced wind gusts up to 100 mph between Lexington and the Livingston County border, where a total of 32 high-tension electrical transmission towers suffered significant damage. Downburst winds of 75 to 90 mph occurred in the Colfax and Anchor areas. Within this area of wind damage, five tornadoes have been identified. .Lexington Tornado... A machine shed at this location was destroyed, with debris thrown a half mile east. .Anchor-Gibson City Tornado... Several farm buildings were severely damaged or destroyed along the path. The tornado struck a farmstead at the Ford County line north of E. 1500 North Rd. A home at this location lost a significant part of its roof, and several trees were damaged.
