.DISCUSSION...
Drier weather briefly returns for most today as high pressure
assumes control, and temperatures significantly warm. We cannot rule
out some isolated shower or thunderstorm activity along the mountains
during the afternoon and into the evening.
Tuesday will feature a hot afternoon with highs in the upper 80s
across the lowlands, and again the chance for an afternoon shower or
thunderstorm over the mountains.
Weak disturbances ahead of an approaching cold front are likely to
bring showers and thunderstorm Wednesday, with a few strays even as
early as overnight Tuesday night. Thunderstorms on Wednesday are not
expected to be severe, but could produce locally heavy to intense
downpours.
By the time a cold front crosses Thursday, moisture and instability
will already be greatly reduced, so any thunderstorm that manages to
stand up ahead of the front on Thursday is not expected to be
particularly tall, strong, nor heavy.
Cooler, drier weather will follow for Friday and the weekend, with
the mainly afternoon shower or thundershower beneath a large,
swirling upper level disturbance.
