The area will reside in a rather benign upper level pattern through the weekend with a low moving towards the Four Corners today and and upper level trough will to the north across central Canada. With the lack of much flow aloft, not expecting much change to the weather across the region through the weekend. This will mean continued mostly clear skies, light winds, pleasant temperatures and no precipitation. Daytime highs across the high country will top out in the 60s with readings around 70 expected in the lower valleys. Overnight lows through the weekend will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s in the valleys, cooler naturally in the mountains. Could see some patchy frost across the agricultural zones in the coldest locations but not expecting anything widespread. As we move into the workweek, the weather pattern looks to remain mostly quiet. A trough sweeping north of the region could spark a few showers around Island Park but PoPs are trending lowering during this time period so things will be very low impact if anything were to transpire. At worst, we`ll likely just see some slightly increased cloud cover across eastern Idaho. As this trough moves east, a transient ridge will quickly shift over the region Tuesday and Wednesday and this will keep things quiet although temperatures will be their warmest during this period. Could see some low 80s return into some of our valley locations but still thinking that mid to upper 70s will be more common. Nevertheless, it`ll be a touch warmer than what we`ve seen for much of the last week. Confidence in the upper level pattern begins to breakdown a bit after Thursday and into next weekend. It does appear that more of a southwesterly flow aloft will set in as an upper trough moves towards the Pacific NW later in the week. Models still have varying opinions as to when and where certain features may pass through the area especially as we get into next weekend. Either way, it looks like the quiet weather should last through the work week with things remaining within a few degrees of seasonal norms. McKaughan

Low pressure exiting the southern Great Basin will allow a high over the rest of the western states to build and strengthen, but only for a short time. Warming continues into Sun, with light wind and lower humidity. A trough moves into northern Great Basin Sun night/Mon and reverses those trends, although there is not enough moisture for anything more than increase cloudiness and surface humidity. Messick
