...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of east central New Mexico, including the
  following county, central Quay.

* WHEN...Until 300 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 120 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to several thunderstorms moving
    quickly north over Tucumcari. This will cause urban and small
    stream flooding. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly or mountainous terrain there are numerous low water
crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not
attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
