Shower and storm activity will focus from the central mountain chain eastward today through Saturday, although isolated gusty activity is possible across central NM today and again Saturday as well. A few storms across eastern NM may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail each afternoon and evening. A moist airmass will slosh back and forth across eastern NM the next few days with excellent RH recoveries to its east and poor to fair recoveries to its west. Drier air enters from the west Sunday, creating widespread elevated fire weather conditions and helping temps climb 5-10 degrees above seasonal averages. Breezy southwest to west winds may create locally critical fire weather conditions across the northeast plains early to mid-next week.
