656 FNUS55 KABQ 211125 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 525 AM MDT Sat Sep 21 2024 .DISCUSSION... Numerous showers and thunderstorms are forecast today across northern and eastern New Mexico while mostly dry conditions prevail in southwestern areas of the state. Many locations in northern and eastern New Mexico will receive soaking rainfall with the potential for strong to severe storms with heavy rain and flash flooding in northeastern areas. Temperatures will run a few degrees cooler today, as a cold front arrives. Windy conditions are expected in the Rio Grande valley this afternoon along with drier conditions south of Albuquerque and humidity in the 15 to 20 percent range. Showers and thunderstorms will dwindle tonight into Sunday morning with temperatures staying below normal through Sunday afternoon . A few showers and thunderstorms cannot be ruled out on Monday, mainly in the northern mountains, and rain chances will increase over eastern New Mexico into Tuesday as another front possibly arrives with scattered storms.
