.DISCUSSION...

Winds will increase out of the west-northwest during the day
today with gusts of 45 to 55 mph possible. The strongest gusts are
expected over central SD. Afternoon RH values are expected to drop
below 30 percent west of the James River. Winds Thursday will gust
to 35 to 40 mph with strongest gusts over northeast SD.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Thursday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
