Spot Forecast for Audubon 16-21...USFWS
National Weather Service Bismarck ND
343 AM CDT Fri Jun 14 2024

Forecast is based on ignition time of 0700 CDT on June 14.
If conditions become unrepresentative, contact the National Weather
Service.

.DISCUSSION...

Clear skies are anticipated at the time of ignition, along with
temperatures around 50 degrees and relative humidities around 90
percent. Highs today are forecast in the lower 80s, while the
minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the upper 30
percent range. Cloud cover will increase through the late morning
and afternoon, becoming mostly cloudy as chances for showers and
thunderstorms increase for the late afternoon and evening. Winds
will generally be light and out of the south at the time of
ignition, but will strengthen to around 10 to 15 MPH and turn
southeasterly through the day. Due to the proximity of the
ignition site to the Lake Audubon, the light winds in the morning
may become erratic as they interact with north-northwesterly lake
winds. Gusty and erratic winds are also expected where showers and
thunderstorms do develop in the late afternoon and evening.
Slight chances for showers will continue overnight, with winds
becoming southerly by mid Saturday morning.

Chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase through much
of the day Saturday, with isolated strong to severe storms possible
through the evening and overnight into Sunday as a cold front
passes across the ignition site. Expected hazards with any
stronger storms would be large hail, strong winds, and the
potential for an isolated tornado. Otherwise, increasing clouds
and southerly winds from 5 to 10 mph are expected. The forecast
high temperature on Saturday is around 85, and the minimum
relative humidity is in the lower 50 percent range.
