Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
223 PM MDT Fri Sep 20 2024

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Sunday night...Little change
through Sunday although less breezy Saturday afternoon as
northwest winds aloft decrease. An upper trough from the Gulf
of Alaska will bring middle and high clouds Sunday night, and
enough northwest surface wind to hinder formation of the usual
nighttime inversion. Min temps Sunday night should therefore be
several degrees warmer than on Saturday night.

.LONG TERM...Monday through Friday...GFS and ECMWF shift Sunday
night`s trough to our east on Monday with only some cloudiness
and little change in daytime temps. Tuesday and Wednesday will
be sunny and warmer as a Pacific upper ridge builds inland
behind the exiting trough. The ridge will shift rapidly east
Wednesday and the next Gulf of Alaska trough will bring a dry
cold front with clouds and breezy winds Wednesday night,
followed by slightly cooler temps Thursday. Friday looks breezy
and mild but still dry under strong westerly flow aloft.
