Routine Fire Wx Fcst (With/Without 6-10 Day Outlook)
Issued by NWS Denver/Boulder, CO
Issued by NWS Denver/Boulder, CO
740 FNUS55 KBOU 262052 FWFBOU Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO 252 PM MDT Wed Jun 26 2024 .DISCUSSION...Tonight and Thursday... No fire weather concerns through Thursday. Another very warm day is in store Thursday with highs >90 deg for elevations below 6,000 ft. With a fair amount of moisture in place, RH values won`t drop below 25% anywhere in our area of responsibility. Winds will be under 20 mph until convection/gustfronts move through. Widespread afternoon showers and thunderstorms (40-80% chance, best chance in mountains and Palmer Divide) will move from the high country eastward. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain and small hail. Across the far northeast corner of Colorado, severe storms are possible in the early evening hours. LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Thursday night through Monday...Scattered to numerous thunderstorms expected Thursday evening, with localized areas of wetting rain, most likely in the mountains and eastern plains. Some drier air is expected to move into the forecast area Friday and Saturday with decreased precipitation chances. On Sunday, there may be an increase in precipitation chances, mainly south of Interstate 70 due to a possible increase in subtropical moisture. Drier weather is expected early next week as a drier zonal flow sets up over Colorado. This combined with above normal temperatures and stronger winds may lead to the possibly of elevated to spotty critical fire weather conditions on Monday. ...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds... ...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds... ...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid... ...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone groups and may not match the actual forecast values shown in those groups...
