VFR through the evening. Drainage winds will transition to a
northwesterly direction later this morning and persist through
most of the afternoon. At least a few gusty showers are forecast
this afternoon, though overall coverage will be sparse. Main
concern with these will be variable/gusty outflow winds during the
mid/late afternoon hours.
Winds should gradually turn to the north or northeast this
evening, with a gradual moistening trend still expected. Guidance
is in fairly good agreement developing a stratus deck between
08-11z tonight, with better odds at DEN compared to APA/BJC. At
least a brief period of MVFR to IFR ceilings is expected at all of
the terminals. Stratus should slowly rise and scatter out through
Wednesday morning.

KALS...VFR conditions through the next 24 hours. A few
showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the San Luis
Valley on this afternoon in the 23-01z time period. Gusty
outflow winds will be the main concern along with brief reductions
in CIGS and VIS.
KCOS and KPUB...VFR conditions through the next 24 hours. A
cold front will arrive this afternoon, bringing a northerly
wind shift with gusts near 25 kts possible into the evening.
There is a very low probability of an isolated shower, but
confidence in occurrence is low at this time. A secondary cold
front will arrive late tonight into Wednesday morning with

A isolated to scattered high-based overnight showers continue
to push into the region this morning producing mostly virga with
outflow gusts to 40+ kts possible. Expect VFR conditions with
light winds through 18Z after which winds will pick up from the
west to northwest along with isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms lasting into the evening. Wild fires in the region
are producing heavy smoke that may periodically impact the
central and southern TAF sites with reduced visibility through
the TAF period, especially KGUC and KMTJ.

to push into the region this morning producing mostly virga with
outflow gusts to 40+ kts possible. Expect VFR conditions with

west to northwest along with isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms lasting into the evening. Wild fires in the region
are producing heavy smoke that may periodically impact the
central and southern TAF sites with reduced visibility through
the TAF period, especially KGUC and KMTJ.

thunderstorms, and severe wind gusts greater than 58mph cannot be
ruled out. VFR conditions are expected to follow with the passage of
the storms.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions will persist
through the morning hours before thunderstorms move near or directly
impact the majority of our terminals this afternoon. The highest
confidence of terminals seeing thunderstorms are at KOGD, KSVR,

IFR/MVFR ceilings have developed at KCOD since 0930Z behind the
cold front and could last through 16Z. The front continues to
progress southward and expected to reach the Divide by 16Z.
Gusty northerly winds have developed over the Bighorn Basin and
Johnson County this morning behind the front, with gusts of 25
to 35 kt occurring in some locations. A weather system will
bring widespread shower and thunderstorm chances to the area
beginning this afternoon. Impacts are likely (70%) from these
showers and storms at all terminals, but confidence remains low
on the exact timing of impacts, thus PROB30 groups remain for
now. With the increased moisture values it is conceivable vis
may drop to MVFR/IFR with the strongest storms. Damaging wind
gusts will be possible with storms across the area and large
hail possible with storms east of The Divide. MVFR ceilings will
return to northern portions this evening, as storms exit to the
east. This trend will spread across areas east of the Divide
through 06Z, with widespread IFR/MVFR ceilings. VLIFR/LIFR
ceilings will be possible over far northern portions, including
KCOD and KBYG after 07Z.

A Surface cold front will move south across the high plains starting
late tonight and early Tuesday morning. This front is forecast to
stall across southeast Wyoming late Tuesday night bringing
widespread rainfall and thunderstorms to the region through
Wednesday.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: A few remaining showers are producing gusts
up to 55 mph near KBFF and possibly CDR. Otherwise, these showers
will continue drifting east and weakening through 08z.
Generally VFR conditions expected through tonight and Tuesday.
Expect some thunderstorm develop as the cold front moves south, so
mentioned the possibility of thunder (PROB30) for most terminals.
Nocturnal thunderstorms and low CIGS are expected near KCDR, KAIA,
and KBFF after 04z Wednesday with IFR conditions possible.

For the KLBF terminal: Expect some high clouds to linger through
late afternoon with a few to scattered clouds ranging from 20000
to 25000 FT AGL. There will be an increased threat for
thunderstorms from 22z through 03z. With the bulk of storms
expected to be north and northeast of the area, will handle
mention with a VCTS group for now. Beyond mid evening, broken
ceilings will develop around 2500 FT AGL and will persist
through 12z Wednesday.
For the KVTN terminal: Cloud cover will
increase mid afternoon with broken ceilings around 10000 FT AGL
developing after 21z. From 21z through 01z, thunderstorms will
be possible with visibilities as low as 2SM with thunderstorm
wind gusts up to 45+kts possible. The threat for storms will end
by mid evening with MVFR ceilings of 1000 to 2000 FT AGL
developing overnight.

Southerly winds are forecast to continue through the afternoon
with some gusts of 20-30 mph possible; highest at KMCK. Continue
to monitor for some thunderstorm development this afternoon and
through the evening. For KGLD, a slim chance of storms
developingbefore 00Z but think any activity should remain to
the NW of the terminal. A little better signal from 01-04Z so
have included a PROB30 as a surface trough moves through, severe
weather is not expected for the terminal. KMCK does have a
better potential after 00Z with a concern for strong to perhaps
severe winds and IFR visibilities due to heavy rains so have
included a tempo for this as the forcing is better the further
north you go. An increasing signal for stratus overnight as
moisture moves in from the north; some patchy fog is also
possible for the KGLD terminal as well.

Impacts to aviation later this evening will be limited however
a plume of smoke from a New Mexico fire may be reducing
visibility in haze to the MVFR category (3-5 SM) for a while
from mid evening through the overnight. A surface cold front
approaching the area will be another area of surface mass
convergence where shallow fog could develop north of the
forecast area toward 10-13z, however at this time HREF
probabilities are only up to the 20% threshold for less than one
half mile visibility across the KS/NE line. The gusty southwest
winds ongoing will cease late evening (04-07z), and drop to
around 10 knots through the morning before mixing resumes around
10 am and gusts up to 20-23 kts return.

Storms will develop over the high terrain around 18Z, slowly
expanding in coverage and drifting south throughout the
afternoon. Storms will generally occur along and west of the
central mountain chain, although a few stronger storms could
develop in the highlands east of the central mountain chain as
well. Main concern with storms today will be gusty outflow winds
of 30 to 40KT. VFR conditions will continue to prevail through the
TAF period outside of brief MVFR to IFR visibility under stronger
storms. Storms will begin to dissipate after 00Z, with only a few
showers lingering after 03Z.
