.AVIATION /06Z TAFS through 06Z Thursday/...
Issued at 1138 PM MDT Tue Jun 25 2024
There are still some weak outflow boundaries around, which are
keeping winds from settling a drainage direction. Expect southerly
winds to set up 06-07Z or sooner at APA and DEN. These southerly
winds will be short lived. There is a boundary tracking
southwestward that just entered far northeast Colorado. This will
bring a wind shift to the north/northeast overnight, in the 09-10Z
time frame. The airmass behind this boundary is much more moist.
Low clouds are expected to form over parts of the northeast
plains. There`s roughly and 30-40 percent chance the Denver area
sees low clouds. For the TAF will keep the FEW010, for the chance
at seeing low clouds Wednesday morning, after 12Z.
With better moisture in place, showers and thunderstorms will be
more common Wednesday afternoon. Will keep the tempo for
thunderstorms in the TAF beginning Wednesday 21Z at DEN and APA,
20Z at BJC. There stronger storms will be capable of producing
heavy rain, hail, and outflow winds.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z THURSDAY/...
Issued at 353 AM MDT Wed Jun 26 2024
There is a better chance for TSRA at all three terminals today and
will carry this in a tempo group at all three TAF sites. Best
chance will be after 23z. Winds at KCOS and KPUB will shift from
the east to southeast this afternoon at 10-20 kts before
thunderstorm outflows dominate winds during the late afternoon and
evening. KALS will see more south to southwesterly winds today
prior to thunderstorm development. Winds will become light and
variable at KALS overnight but become east to southeasterly at KCOS
and KPUB. Most areas will stay VFR overnight but will need to
monitor the westward transport of low level moisture into the
mountains as some MVFR to IFR stratus could develop for KCOS and
KPUB with upslope flow if sufficient moisture return occurs. -KT

Flagstaff Aviation Discussion

.AVIATION...Wednesday 26/12Z through Thursday 27/12Z...
Predominately VFR conditions across the region early this
morning, excluding a small cluster of storms that are approaching
KSEZ from the south. Assuming this cluster sustains itself, it`ll
arrive to KFLG in the next couple hours but shouldn`t persist very
long. Elsewhere high based -SHRA stretches from KCMR to east of
KPGA. That shower activity will continue to diminish. Widely
scattered TS will once again develop across the region after 18Z
and persist until after 00Z. Heavier TS will produce isolated
areas of sub VFR ceilings and visibilities.
OUTLOOK...Thursday 27/12Z through Saturday 29/12Z...Expect mostly
VFR conditions, excluding sub VFR conditions under afternoon TS
that will once again develop Thursday afternoon. Drier weather
returns Friday. Gusty/erratic winds possible near storm
development, with SW winds 10-20 kts expected otherwise.

.AVIATION...KSLC...VFR conditions will persist for the KSLC terminal
through the period. Some light showers moving in from the southwest
could bring some mid level clouds and breezy variable winds in the
morning. These will transition to afternoon convection that will
pose a threat for gusty and erratic winds, lightning, and heavy rain.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions will prevail
across the airspace. Light rain showers across western Utah will
gradually transition east and dissipate. A brief lull in activity
will give way to scattered afternoon convection across most of the
region. These storms will pose a risk for gusty outflow winds,
lightning, and heavy rain.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z THURSDAY/...
Issued at 503 AM MDT Wed Jun 26 2024
Shower and thunderstorm chances pick up this morning over western
Wyoming. Chances spread eastward through the morning and afternoon.
All sites have at least a 15% chance to see a shower or thunderstorm
today. Locations with closer to 30% chances have PROB30 groups in
the TAFs. KRKS is the most likely (50% to 60%) location to get
convection today. Even if a place does not see a storm, outflows
nearby may bring gusty winds of variable directions. Chances
decrease this evening, with 10% to 15% chances lingering around
KJAC and KRKS into the night. A shortwave brings increasing
chances at the end of the TAF period and into Thursday morning.
Please see the Aviation Weather Center and/or CWSU ZDV and ZLC for
the latest information on smoke, icing, and turbulence
forecasts.

mid level moisture and a weather disturbance helping to increase
cloud cover and the coverage of showers and thunderstorms
Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Clear skies will prevail until 15Z, except for occasional fog
reducing visibilities to 4 miles and ceilings to 1500 feet from
09Z to 13Z at Chadron, Alliance and Scottsbluff. After 15Z,
scattered to broken clouds from 5000 to 10000 feet will occur,
with thunderstorms in the vicinity at all terminals except
Rawlins after 00Z. Winds will gust to 25 knots at the Wyoming
terminals after 15Z Wednesday, and to 30 knots at the Nebraska
terminals after 15Z to 21Z Wednesday.

.AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z THURSDAY/...
Issued at 1256 AM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024
Mostly quiet aviation conditions are expected over the next day.
Some isolated thunderstorms are possible during the evening across
portions of southwest Nebraska and the Sandhills, however,
confidence remains low if storms will impact either terminal. For
now, have kept thunderstorms out of the prevailing forecast, but
this may change in the next forecast cycle or two.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z THURSDAY/...
Issued at 457 AM MDT Wed Jun 26 2024
Watching a corridor of stratus develop across Yuma/Washington
county in Colorado; some uncertainty whether or not this will
stretch into the KGLD terminal but will monitor very closely.
Have opted to go with a tempo of sct010 to show the potential
for IFR conditions this morning. Stratus will be short lived
as it should be completely gone by 15Z. Breezy winds around 15
knots with some sporadic gusts up to 20-25 knots will be present
throughout the day. Potential for a cluster of storms to affect
each terminal overnight into Thursday morning. Do have to
overcome some dry air at KGLD so will mention the VCTS but if
signals that the dry air isn`t as pronounced then a rain
mention may be needed. Strong signal for stratus again Thursday
morning especially for KMCK; KGLD is on the fringe of it so will
again go with the SCT wording for the TAF at this time.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z THURSDAY/...
Issued at 544 AM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024
No major changes for the 12Z TAF period. Showers and
thunderstorms are expected to move across west central and
southwest Kansas, however probability of impact at individual
terminals is still a bit too low for the forecast time range to
include in this latest synoptic TAF, so we will give it one more
6-hr forecast cycle to refine the convective forecast with
respect to placement and timing of the best chance of
thunderstorm impact at terminals. Otherwise, outside of
convection, winds will be easterly through the period with VFR
flight category expected to continue.

(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1240 AM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024
Higher confidence is placed for DHT to receive thunderstorm
activity later on this evening, so PROB30 groups have been issued
to address these higher probabilities. For the other two sites,
probabilities are not high enough at this time to anticipate
impacts on flight rules. For the 06Z TAF period, VCSH will suffice
at AMA and GUY since shower and possibly thunderstorm activity
may occur in the vicinity of these sites during the evening hours
of the day. Otherwise, VFR conditions prevail for the rest of the
hours within the 06Z TAF period.

(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1139 PM MDT Tue Jun 25 2024
Sprinkles, mid level cloud cover, and remnant outflow boundaries
over the region late tonight will dissipate thru sunrise. A rich
tap of moisture will develop into NM Wednesday with significantly
greater coverage of SHRA/TS compared to Tuesday. Convection will
fire up over higher terrain areas around 11am then move slow and
erratically into nearby highlands and valleys thru the evening.
Torrential rainfall is likely under the strongest cells along with
small hail and wet microburst winds possible. Direct hits will be
capable of brief IFR. SHRA/TS will evolve into areas of light to
moderate rain Wednesday night with widespread mid level cloud
cover thru sunrise Thursday.
