Northeast winds will continue to turn counter-clockwise and end
up a northerly direction around 02Z at DEN. Winds back to the
northwest prior to becoming light and variable. After 06Z, typical
south- southwest drainage winds will prevail. Skies to remain
mostly clear with few to scattered high-based cumulus clouds
around 10,000 feet. High based showers are expected to pass south
of DEN, but within 10 miles for VCSH. Slight chance outflow winds
bring a wind shift to the southwest.
For Monday, the 18Z models show low clouds forming over parts of
northeast Colorado 09-12Z and then spreading southwestward. Added
SCT010 to the TAFs with a tempo for broken 1000 feet (BKN010) at
DEN and BJC. These low clouds dissipate 15-17Z.
There`s a good amount of uncertainty regarding the wind direction
in the 16-22Z time frame. Like today, most models show gusty
southwest winds at DEN. However, the strong southwest winds have
stayed well south of DEN. Will have easterly winds for late Monday
morning and early afternoon (17-21Z). Eventually expect stronger
south-southwest winds to arrive at DEN mid afternoon, around 21Z.
There is the possibility the easterly winds hold strong again and
the gusty southwest winds stay south of DEN.

.AVIATION...KSLC...NW winds expected to linger into the evening,
flipping SE between ~05Z-07Z Mon. SE winds then persist, with an
early switch back NW ~13Z-15Z Mon as a cold front gradually sinks
through the region. Tightening gradient will result in increasingly
gusty NW winds throughout the daytime, generally in the 25kt to 35kt
range. Winds will gradually relax late Monday evening into the
overnight hours, with NW direction favored to persist. Precipitation
chances low (around 20%), but best chance noted from ~21z Mon to
~03Z Tue. Given high-based nature, any convection would be capable
of further gusty and erratic outflow winds.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Winds expected to lighten up
and largely follow a diurnally normal pattern overnight. From Mon
morning on through the afternoon, a cold front will sink southward
through N UT and SW WY terminals, reaching S UT terminals by later
Mon evening. At northern terminals, NW winds become favored
following frontal passage, and gusty conditions set in during the
daytime hours (generally in the 25kt to 35kt range). Additionally, a
low chance (around 20%) of high-based convection is noted at
northern terminals during the afternoon. At southern terminals,
gusty SW prefrontal winds develop during the day, with at least some
potential noted for patchy smoke related haze to advect in from
fires in the SW CONUS. Winds at southern terminals flip N to NW
abruptly later Mon evening following frontal passage.

Mostly VFR conditions will prevail through the forecast period.
Breezy winds will diminish by 02 to 04Z this evening. Cloud cover
will increase Monday morning the period as a cold front approaches
the region. Ahead of this cold front, southwest winds will also
begin to increase. The cold front will begin to move into the west
by around 18Z Monday, with rain showers and MVFR conditions expected
to occur at KJAC around 18Z. KJAC may see IFR conditions (30%
chance) by later in the afternoon. KCOD may also see rain showers
late in the period, but hi-res models are still seeing
inconsistencies in timing of the heavier precipitation with the cold
front. Have included MVFR with -RA at 20Z for now, but only 40%
confidence in MFR conditions at this time. There is a less than 25%
chance of showers at all other terminals. With the frontal passage,
winds will also continue to increase. Gusts 30 to 40kts will be
possible at KCPR and KRKS, as well as 20% chance of gusts exceeding
30kts at KBPI, KPNA, KLND, and KRIW through the afternoon.

Southwest flow aloft will continue, while moist southeast low
level winds in the wake of a cold front help produce widespread
low clouds and some fog overnight along and east of I-25.
Wyoming TAFS...For Rawlins and Laramie, scattered to broken
clouds from 8000 to 15000 feet will prevail. Winds will gust to
28 knots at Rawlins until 02Z, then to 40 knots after
15Z Monday, with winds gusting to 33 knots at Laramie until
05Z, and to 35 knots after 12Z Monday.
For Cheyenne, scattered clouds near 7000 feet will persist until
09Z, then ceilings will vary from 1200 to 2500 feet until 15Z,
then clouds will be scattered from 2500 to 5000 feet. Winds will
gust to 22 knots until 02Z, and to 25 knots after 18Z Monday.
Nebraska TAFS...For Chadron and Alliance, expect scattered
clouds near 15000 feet until 06Z, then ceilings near 5000 feet
with thunderstorms in the vicinity until 10Z, then fog reducing
visibilities to 3 miles and ceilings near 1500 feet until 17Z,
then ceilings around 3500 feet. Winds will gust to 22 knots at
Alliance until 06Z.
For Scottsbluff and Sidney, scattered clouds near 15000 feet
will occur until 07Z to 10Z, then ceilings will range from
1200 to 3500 feet until 19Z, then ceilings will be near
5000 feet. Winds will gust to 25 knots at Sidney until 03Z, and
to 25 knots at Scottsbluff until 09Z, and to 25 knots after 19Z
Monday.

VFR conditions early in the period will degrade at area
terminals due to multiple aviation concerns.
The first and primary concern will be the threat for strong
convection late tonight. Ongoing storms in far southwest
Nebraska should track east-northeast along a stalled frontal
boundary. This will keep most if not all activity initially
south of LBF. Later tonight, more scattered thunderstorms will
develop across the western Sandhills and track east-northeast.
This activity will have greater potential for impacting both LBF
and VTN. Have covered LBF with a PROB30 for now due to
uncertainty with southward extent but have a prevailing mention
at VTN.
Behind quickly departing storms, lowering CIGS will
introduce MVFR and even IFR criteria across our northern zones.
Have VTN falling to IFR around sunrise Monday, though can`t rule
out brief periods of LIFR as well. These lower ceilings should
remain north of LBF where skies should clear late in the period.

this time. Chance for VCTS for both sites from approx
22z-02z(KGLD) and 01z-05z(KMCK). Low confidence at this time
they will affect either terminal but will monitor for later
updates.
Winds for KGLD, south 10-20kts through 22z then becoming
southeast 15-30kts. From 05z Monday onward, southerly again
around 25-35kts. LLWS 02z-05z Monday 160@45kts and again from
05z onward 180@55kts.
Winds for KMCK, east around 10kts through 20z, then southeast
around 15-25kts. Around 05z Monday, southerly 15-25kts through
15z, with a turn towards southwest around 20-30kts. LLWS
05z-15z Monday 180@50kts and again from 15z onward 190@45kts.

Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms developing in extreme
southwest Kansas will drift slowly northeast this evening,
potentially affecting the vicinity of KGCK and KLBL generally
after 02-04Z. Otherwise, widespread VFR conditions are expected
to continue through early Monday. Southerly winds around 15 to
25kt with gusts up to 30kt are expected to persist throughout
much of the period as a strong lee side trough of low pressure
remains anchored in extreme southeast Colorado.

hours. Small chance for a thunderstorm at KDHT or KGUY, but
confidence too low for prevailing or TEMPO group. Will note with
amendments if necessary. Winds will be breezy for the majority of
the TAF period at all TAF sites. They will be mainly out of the
south to southwest and in the 15-20kt range, gusting 25-30kts at
times. Unless a storm manages to impact a TAF site, all cloud
bases should be mainly above 15kft agl or SKC.

VFR conditions will continue to prevail through the TAF period.
There are a couple isolated storms currently in the eastern
plains and few more storms are possible through the early
evening, but coverage will remain very isolated and impacts to any
terminals is low. Breezy southwest winds of 10-20KT are
commonplace around the region and it will remain that way through
sunset. Winds decrease after sunset in most areas, but southerly
flow will increase across the eastern plains generally east of a
line extending from KROW to KRTN where gusts to 35KT are possible
from 04Z to 12Z. Gusty southwest winds will prevail across the
state late tomorrow morning through the evening, with the
strongest winds focusing over the northeastern and west-central
portions of the state. Once again, there is a low chance of an
isolated storm near the TX border tomorrow afternoon.
