At 118 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over South Hero, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Westford, Fairfax, South Hero, Georgia, Grand Isle, Georgia Center, Milton, Fletcher, Colchester, Essex, Wilcox Point, Mallets Bay State Park, Sand Bar State Park, West Milton, East Georgia, Kellogg Island, Grand Isle State Park, Jackson Point, Hoyt Point, and Robinson Point. This includes Interstate 89 between mile markers 97 and 109. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. If on or near Lake Champlain, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
