There were several rivers that reached Minor to Moderate flood stage
due to the heavy rainfall produced by Debby. Tropical Storm Debby
came ashore along the Big Bend area of Florida`s Gulf Coast on the
morning of the 5th. Debby then moved slowly northeast across
southern Georgia to near Savannah by the morning of the 6th. Debby
slowed down even more and was located just off the South Carolina
coast near Charleston on the morning of the 7th. Debbie then turned
north-northwest and weakened moving into the Pee Dee region of South
Carolina by the morning of the 8th. This long duration rainfall
event produced rainfall total in excess of 10 inches across portions
of Bamberg, Barnwell and eastern Orangeburg counties.

Here are some river crests from across the Midlands:

The Congaree River at Columbia crested at 13.24 feet on the evening
of the 9th. Action Stage is 10.0 feet and Flood Stage is 19.0 feet.

The Congaree at Carolina Eastman reached Moderate Flood and crested
at 119.30 feet just after midnight on the 10th. Flood Stage is 115.0

August 17th - 18th...A prefrontal trough and approaching cold front
produced strong to severe thunderstorms across the northern and
western Midlands. There were numerous reports of trees and power
lines down along with 1 inch hail in Lancaster County.

August 22rd - 24th...A taste of fall across the Midlands and CSRA as
cool Canadian high pressure settled in across the Great into the
Carolinas. This produced low temperatures in the lower to middle 50s
with dry conditions.

Here are some of the cool morning low temperatures that occurred on
the morning of the 22nd.
