Tropical Storm Alberto is nearing landfall along the Mexico coast
early this morning. All tropical storm watches have been cancelled
for the Texas coast as wind speeds have decreased and will continue
to decrease.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue to
impact the southern Coastal Bend and west across South Texas this
morning with a few brief tropical tornadoes still possible.
Additional rainfall for most of the area will be an inch or less,
though a few bands of heavier convection are still noted and could
produce another inch or two of rain.

Coastal flooding will persist along the coast today into tomorrow
for gulf facing areas, and will likely persist longer along the bays
as water will take some time to get back to normal. Expect
inundation of up to 3 feet to continue in these areas.

(Tonight through next Wednesday)

Deep moisture will persist through the end of the week and into
the weekend across the area and scattered showers and
thunderstorms will remain in the forecast. NHC is also monitoring
another area (yes, really) of potential tropical development in
the southern Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche There is a 50 percent
chance of development over the next 7 days for this area as
conditions become more conducive to gradual development into next
week. Outside of this potential development, it would appear
things should get a bit drier early next week as mid level ridging
is expected to sink southward.

Temperatures gradually warm into next week and will be back to
normal by early to mid-week.

Mostly VFR conditions will prevail through the cycle at all area
terminals, except around any thunderstorms that do develop which
could lead to temporary MVFR conditions this afternoon. Rain
chances will be diminishing later this afternoon into the evening
hours. Aside from that, gusty winds will prevail through early
evening at around 30 knots. Winds will decrease tonight, becoming
weak to moderate overnight mainly out of the east.

Tropical Storm warnings have been cancelled for the Texas coastal
waters. Small craft advisories are no in effect. Winds will
remain elevated through late tonight with very rough seas
persisting. The seas will be slow to subside, and may require the
small craft advisory to be extended. Scattered showers will remain
in the forecast through the weekend.
