Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service State College PA
527 AM EDT Wed Sep 18 2024

Upper level low pressure spinning over the Southern
Appalachians, with a surface trough extending east to the Outer
Banks of North Carolina, will drift slowly to the northeast today
through Thursday. These weather features will combine to bring
plenty of clouds and slightly cooler than normal daytime
temperatures.

Several periods of rain will be focused across Southern and
Eastern portions of Pennsylvania, while much of Central and
Northwestern counties of the state will see very little or no
rain.

High temperatures this afternoon will range from the low to mid
60s on the ridgetops of the Laurel Highlands to the low and mid
70s in most other parts of the state. Lows tonight will vary from
the mid 50s over the Northern Mountains to the low and mid 60s in
the Southeastern part of the state.

The areal coverage of rain will decrease across Central Pennsylvania
Thursday, with the best chance of rain shifting to the Lower
Susquehanna and Western Poconos.

A ridge of high pressure at the surface and aloft will build east
from the Ohio Valley for Friday and Saturday, accompanied by
variable amounts of clouds, but generally dry conditions and a
return to above normal daytime temperatures.
