...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN COOK AND
NORTHEASTERN LAKE COUNTIES THROUGH 1115 AM CDT...
At 1049 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Basswood Lake to Boundary Waters Canoe
Area Wilderness. Movement was east at 55 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
Gunflint Lake, Sea Gull Lake, Snowbank Lake, southeastern Boundary
Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Forest Center, Little Saganaga Lake,
Saganaga Lake, Alpine Lake, Basswood Lake, Ensign Lake, Kekekabic
Lake, Alice Lake, Burnt Lake, Perent Lake, Wine Lake, Phoebe Lake,
Kawishiwi Lake, Isabella Lake, Malberg Lake, and Disappointment Lake.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
