This EF1 occurred in near Delta in Keokuk County Iowa, and a fairly long track EF1 tornado occurred from Washington County through southeast Johnson Co, to Cedar County Iowa. .Overview...A fast moving derecho brought both damaging winds and tornadoes to Iowa and Illinois during the morning hours Friday May 24th, 2024. ...Delta IA Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 110 mph Path Length /statute/: 1.59 miles Path Width /maximum/: 70 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/24/2024 Start Time: 05:56 AM CDT Start Location: 2 W Delta / Keokuk County / IA Start Lat/Lon: 41.3317 / -92.3778 End Date: 05/24/2024 End Time: 05:58 AM CDT End Location: 2 NW Delta / Keokuk County / IA End Lat/Lon: 41.3479 / -92.356 Survey Summary: An NWS survey team found damage consistent with an EF-1 tornado, just northwest of Delta, Iowa, in Keokuk County early Friday morning. The brief tornado had estimated winds around 110 mph, and caused significant damage to trees and outbuildings. There were no injuries. Thanks to Keokuk County emergency management for assistance in completing the survey. ...Riverside IA Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100 mph Path Length /statute/: 18.09 miles Path Width /maximum/: 100 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/24/2024 Start Time: 06:50 AM CDT Start Location: 2 ENE Riverside / Washington County / IA Start Lat/Lon: 41.4862 / -91.5406 End Date: 05/25/2024 End Time: 07:14 AM CDT End Location: 2 WNW Springdale / Cedar County / IA End Lat/Lon: 41.6774 / -91.3038 Survey Summary: A tornado developed just east of Riverside in Washington County, and moved rapidly northeast, following an intermittent path through southeast Johnson County, to near West Branch in Cedar County. The tornado caused tree and outbuilding damage, and was rated EF-1 with maximum winds around 100 mph.
