...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 AM CDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest Iowa, including the following
  counties, Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, O`Brien,
  Osceola, Plymouth and Sioux, southwest Minnesota, including the
  following counties, Cottonwood, Jackson, Murray and Nobles, and
  southeast South Dakota, including the following county, Union.

* WHEN...Until 945 AM CDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
  remain closed due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 129 AM CDT, Emergency management reported heavy rain in
    the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already
    occurring. Between 4 and 6 inches of rain have fallen.
    Numerous areas have no travel advised. Heed all travel
    restrictions and do NOT drive around barricades!
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
    warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Spencer In Clay County, Sioux Center, Orange City, Spirit
    Lake, Windom, Jackson In Jackson County, Hawarden, Milford,
    Mountain Lake, Lakefield, Hartley, Sanborn, Alton, Arnolds
    Park, Lake Park, Paullina, Bergen, Primghar, Okoboji and
    Heron Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
