The below information is the preliminary findings. In addition to the tornadoes, damage associated with straight line winds was found throughout the city of Temple. .Temple Tornado... Rating: EF2 Estimated Peak Wind: 120 mph Path Length /statute/: 2.78 miles Path Width /maximum/: 0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 30 Start Date: 05/22/2024 Start Time: 06:21 PM CDT Start Location: 2 SSE Morgan`s Point Resort / Bell County / TX Start Lat/Lon: 31.1334 / -97.4388 End Date: 05/22/2024 End Time: 06:26 PM CDT End Location: 2 WNW Temple / Bell County / TX End Lat/Lon: 31.1061 / -97.4042 Survey Summary: The tornado formed near TX- 317 between FM 2483 and W Adams Ave. where at least a dozen power poles were significantly damaged. The tornado continued to move east/southeast across the Terrace at Lake Pointe subdivision damaging many homes, especially roof and windows. Significant roof and tree damage was found in the neighborhood south of Tarver Elementary School. At least, four homes lost most of the roof, some outside walls, and sustained significant damage to the windows. Several trees snapped or uprooted across the neighborhood. Then, the tornado crossed Tanglehead Dr. towards W. Adams Ave damaging many businesses including stand-alone restaurants, shops, banks, and strip malls. A few of the businesses in this area lost most of their roof. Several cars sustained moderate to significant damage and cars were flipped. Most of the power poles were damaged or snapped along W. Adams Ave. The tornado continued to move southeast, crossing Old Waco Rd, damaging other homes and businesses. Additional tree damage was found as the tornado tracked across an open field south of W. Adams Ave and west of S Kegley Rd. While the survey team found additional damage east of this road, debris indicates the circulation lifted around 6:26 pm with more widespread damage associated with rear flank downdraft winds estimated between 80-90 mph throughout the city of Temple. .Southeast of Temple Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 95 mph Path Length /statute/: 2.20 miles Path Width /maximum/: 0 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 05/22/2024 Start Time: 06:33 PM CDT Start Location: 5 NE Little River-Academy / Bell County / TX Start Lat/Lon: 31.0455 / -97.3026 End Date: 05/22/2024 End Time: 06:35 PM CDT End Location: 5 ENE Little River-Academy / Bell County / TX End Lat/Lon: 31.0238 / -97.2754 Survey Summary: A second but brief tornado developed southeast of Temple near Bob White Rd north of FM-3117 tracking mostly over open field. Major roof damage was found near the intersection of these roads. Additional but less extensive roof damage was seen to others homes as the tornado tracked southeast near Heidenheimer Rd. The team also found significant damage to several transmission lines along this area with more than a dozen towers flipped on its side. Many trees along the tornado track were also heavily damaged.
