725 FXUS65 KGGW 240851 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 251 AM MDT Tue Sep 24 2024 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: - A warm up to the 80s/low 90s for Wednesday then stepping cooler through the weekend. - Dry conditions are expected despite a couple cool fronts. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Progressive upper ridge will move into the Northern Rockies Tuesday, then into the northern Plains Wednesday. This will bring a warm airmass northward to enable 80s and low 90 degree temperatures across the CWA. Being that the area received some rainfall in the past week, and very little wind is expected, fire weather concerns are minimal at this point. Upper ridge will be suppressed by a couple shortwaves and weak cold fronts then move through the region. The first of these waves will slide through on Thursday with a drop in temperatures. Temperatures will continue with a general downward trend through the weekend with zonal to slightly cyclonic flow over the northern Rockies. Rain chances also look minimal late in the period with an unfavorable pattern for bringing moisture across the mountains. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Temperature spread increases for late in the week with uncertainty regarding positioning of west coast trough and track of shortwaves ejecting from said trough. The high model uncertainty is resulting in around a 10 degree range from the 25th to 75th percentiles. && .AVIATION... VFR. Mid to high level clouds across the region this morning will exit to the east for clear skies by afternoon. Mostly clear skies are expected through Wednesday. && .GGW WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
