.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

 - Cool today. Slow warm up to the 80s for highs by mid week.

 - Weak cold front Sunday night may bring gusty northwest winds
   and gloomy skies Monday.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

A cold start to today will briefly warm up Sunday before another
weak cold front pass through the area and brings stronger winds
behind it Sunday afternoon. This frontal passage should be dry.
Conditions will then warm up again through Wednesday and Thursday
as a chinook builds in across the region. A strong cold front
should arrive some time between Thursday and Friday when then
chinook shuts off and another strong cold front comes barreling
in behind it.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

Temperatures from about Thursday onward are in question as the
ensembles break apart on how to dislodge the ridge toppled over
the front range that is causing the local chinook. Timing among
members moving it out appears to be about 36-48 hours worth of
difference. This appears to be a battle of airmasses between warm
Desert Southwest air being reinforced from the southwest and weak
shortwaves incoming from the Pacific Northwest. The timing of
these features all occur on a smaller synoptic scale and break up
member consistency as they interweave.
