...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and south central
  Nebraska, including the following counties, in central Nebraska,
  Merrick and Nance. In east central Nebraska, Polk and York. In
  south central Nebraska, Hall and Hamilton.

* WHEN...Until 1030 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 425 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain
    have fallen with additional rainfall expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Grand Island, York, Central City, Stromsburg, Osceola,
    Shelby, Clarks, Silver Creek, Polk, Chapman, Benedict,
    Marquette and Hordville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
