At 503 PM MDT/603 PM CDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 11 miles north of Bonny Reservoir, moving north at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southeastern Yuma County in northeastern Colorado, western Cheyenne County in northwestern Kansas and southwestern Dundy Counties in southwestern Nebraska, including the following locations... Hale and Beecher Island. This includes Highway 385 between mile markers 207 and 210, and between mile markers 212 and 215. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
