...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN JACKSON AND CENTRAL
SWAIN COUNTIES THROUGH 415 PM EDT...

At 339 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 4
miles northeast of Bryson City, or near the Deep Creek area of the
Smoky Mountains, moving northwest at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Bryson City, Cherokee, Whittier, and Great Smoky Mountains National
Park, especially the areas near Oconaluftee, Newfound Gap, Clingmans
Dome, as well as Deep Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

Take shelter due to the threat of falling limbs or small trees.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until
this storm passes.
