040 FXUS64 KHGX 150413 AFDHGX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 1113 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024 ...New AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Sunday Night) Issued at 239 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024 High pressure over Texas will keep the weather generally uneventful, with the exception of isolated showers/storms possible north of I-10 this afternoon (Piney Woods/Livingston areas). Activity may also form along the sea breeze this afternoon as it moves inland. Otherwise, expect warm temperatures and partly cloudy skies. Lows for tonight Will be in the 70s with light patchy fog possible in the early morning hours. As for Sunday, a combination of a diffuse surface boundary moving, forcing from remnants of Ileana (coming from the Pacific) and remnants of Francine that will be sagging into the Lower Mississippi Valley will yield about a 20-30% chance of showers and storms generally west of I-45 on Sunday. Elsewhere, ridging and southerly flow will continue to contribute to above normal daytime temperatures as highs warm into the upper 80s along the coast and into the 90s further inland. Locations in the Brazos Valley may be a degree or two shy of 100F. Adams && .LONG TERM... (Monday through next Friday) Issued at 239 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024 Not a lot of issues are expected during the long-term with ridging at the mid/upper levels prevailing through much of next week. Rain chances should be hard to come by...with the seabreeze as the main focus for isolated afternoon activity along/near the coast. Other- wise, it`s going to be mostly hot and dry with a revisit of summer like temperatures. Highs to range from the lower to mid 90s...with heat index values in the 100-107F range. Hashtag second summer. 41 && .AVIATION... (06Z TAF Issuance) Issued at 1100 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024 Light, variable winds will continue through the night with the potential for patchy fog bringing visibilities down to 4-6mi at times. There will also be SCT to BKN clouds at around 1500ft through the predawn hours. The patchy fog and MVFR CIGs will dissipate shortly after sunrise. VFR conditions will prevail through the day on Sunday, but there will be scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing across the area during the afternoon and into the evening. Confidence is low on exactly where the storms will develop, so kept wording to PROB30 TS at this time. Southerly winds will prevail through the day, but will be variable near storms. The shower and storm activity will wane by 2z with light and variable winds returning for Sunday night. Fowler && .MARINE... Issued at 239 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024 Generally light to occasionally moderate S/SW winds to prevail for the rest of the weekend. Winds are then expected to shift become a bit more S/SE by next week. Seas will remain light (1-3ft) through the period. A few showers or storms will be possible over offshore waters towards the end of the upcoming week. 41 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
