...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN TULARE COUNTY
THROUGH 400 PM PDT...

At 315 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 17
miles southwest of Whitney Portal Campground, or 23 miles southwest
of Lone Pine, moving south at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Little Five Lakes Ranger Station, Chagoopa Plateau, Rock Creek Ranger
Station, Kern Canyon Ranger Station, Crabtree Meadow, Crabtree Ranger
Station, Quinn Patrol Cabin, Farewell Gap, and Wet Meadows.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
