076 FXUS64 KHUN 280341 AFDHUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 1041 PM CDT Mon May 27 2024 ...New AVIATION... .NEAR TERM... (Tonight) Issued at 847 PM CDT Mon May 27 2024 Drier air continues to filter in from the northwest in the wake of a cold front that has now pushed into southern AL and GA. Despite the drier airmass, dewpoints are still in the mid to upper 60s across the local forecast area. Winds have already become calm and should remain this way until sunrise. Due to the heavy rain last night, calm winds, and humid conditions, some patchy fog is possible, especially along area rivers just before daybreak. NBM probabilities for fog development are quite low, therefore this is a low confidence forecast. Otherwise, expect a seasonal overnight with lows dipping down into the low to mid 60s by tomorrow morning. && .SHORT TERM... (Tuesday through Thursday) Issued at 124 PM CDT Mon May 27 2024 High pressure at the surface will build into the region Tuesday through Thursday, promoting mostly sunny and dry conditions each day. However, we will remain under the influence of a broad upper- trough over the Great Lakes which will keep our mean flow out of the northwest -- reinforcing a slightly cooler and drier air mass. As a result, highs will run slight below normal for the end of May, especially Wednesday and Thursday when they will peak into the upper 70s to lower 80s. && .LONG TERM... (Thursday night through Sunday) Issued at 1055 PM CDT Sun May 26 2024 Dry air continues through the end of the week as upper level ridging moves into the Tennessee Valley from the west. On Friday evening, an upper level shortwave allows low-medium rain chances to return to the area and continue through the weekend. During the long term period, highs are forecast to be in the upper 70s/80s with overnight lows in the 50s/60s. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1041 PM CDT Mon May 27 2024 Light winds and VFR conditions continue through the TAF period. There is a low chance of some visibility reductions due to fog near the terminals just before sunrise this morning, but this is a low confidence forecast. && .HUN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
