...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1897, severe thunderstorms pummeled Southeast Iowa
with large hail.  The hail size was not reported, but
reportedly hail drifts reached 6 FEET DEEP 30 to 40 miles
southwest of Cedar Rapids! In 1989, severe thunderstorms
struck parts of Western Oklahoma with 2 inch diameter
hail and 70 mph winds.
