A few showers and thunderstorms impacted far northwest and
northern Kansas overnight. The rest of the state remained dry.
Gusty south winds encompassed the eastern half of Kansas ahead of
an approaching storm system. Predawn temperatures were rather mild
in the 60s and 70s, although cooler 50s were noted over northwest
Kansas.

A few severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening
over far eastern Kansas, as a cold front and dryline approach from
the west. Large hail, damaging winds, and perhaps a tornado or two
will be the main threats. It will be a breezy day across the
state, with gusts reaching 35 or 40 mph at times. Forecast high
temperatures range from the 80s to near 90 degrees over southern
and eastern portions, to 60s over northwest Kansas.

Thunderstorm chances will gradually shift southeast of Kansas
tonight, with a few non-severe showers and thunderstorms possible
over central and northern Kansas. Forecast low temperatures range
from 40s over northwest Kansas, to near 60 degrees over far
southeast Kansas.
