Predawn temperatures were in the 70s. A more intense heat will prevail over most of mid-America today with high temperatures ranging from the 90s to near 104 degrees with the hottest readings from central Kansas into north central Oklahoma. The only heat relief may come in the form of isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon through tonight from northern Kansas across Nebraska and Iowa. Lows tonight will range from the upper 60s to the upper 70s. $$ KED
