682 WWUS84 KJAN 230121 SPSJAN Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Jackson MS 821 PM CDT Wed May 22 2024 LAZ007-015-230145- Richland LA-Morehouse LA- 821 PM CDT Wed May 22 2024 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTH CENTRAL MOREHOUSE AND NORTH CENTRAL RICHLAND PARISHES THROUGH 845 PM CDT... At 821 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Oak Ridge, or 9 miles north of Rayville, moving east at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of south central Morehouse and north central Richland Parishes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
