Through 500 pm, a cluster of showers, and possibly a thunderstorm, will track north northeastward at around 30 mph, through the Middle Keys and surrounding nearshore waters. This activity will produce wind gusts near 35 mph, brief blinding downpours, and a rare lightning strike. Island locations near the Seven Mile Bridge and Marathon may receive a quick shot of one quarter to one half of an inch of rain. Elsewhere, other clusters of showers with embedded thunderstorms will be found on the offshore gulf waters west of Chokoloskee, and the distant Florida Straits off of the Dry Tortugas. $$
