Through 1230 pm, scattered showers and isolated embedded thunderstorms will increase in coverage and intensity across the coastal waters of the Florida Keys and in the vicinity of the island chain. Most of this activity will move generally to the west at 5 to 10 knots. Mariners encountering the strongest activity in the eastern Straits of Florida south of the Upper Keys can expect brief bouts of moderate to heavy rainfall reducing visibilities, wind gusts 20 to 25 knots, and a few cloud to surface lightning strikes. A few island communities in the Lower Keys can expect up to a tenth of an inch of rainfall. $$
